Let's say you will be closing on a Phoenix home for a sale price of $250,000. Total commission on the sale that will be split by both the buyer's broker (mine) and the seller's broker will usually be 6%, or $15,000 (paid by the seller of the home - not you, the buyer). This equates to a $7,500 share to each broker. Of that $7,500 that you helped me to bring to my office, I will pay my broker his share... AND THEN I pay YOU 20% of what was originally brought in (the same $7,500)...
